Power with, not power over.
Representation through evidence-based practice: listen to the community, center the people most affected, use the best available evidence, act transparently, and evaluate the results together.
The issues, plainly.
Each position includes recent Congressional bills supported by Amy with examples of supporting evidence. Have questions or suggestions? Email campaign@amydonahueforcongress.com.
01Healthcare for all.
Amy supports comprehensive Medicare for All, including reproductive care, mental healthcare, dental, vision, long-term care, disability services, prescription drugs, and gender-affirming care. No premiums, deductibles, networks, or corporate gatekeepers.
02Block the bombs. Free Palestine.
End U.S. complicity in Israel’s genocide in Palestine. Amy supports blocking weapons transfers, a permanent ceasefire, humanitarian aid, the right of return, Palestinian self-determination, and accountability under international law.
03End the billionaire class.
Tax the ultra-rich, close corporate loopholes, break up monopolies, ban congressional stock trading, and remove billionaire and corporate money from politics. Democracy cannot survive when wealth buys governing power.
04African American reparations.
Government reparations are made through a process of repair, accountability, and explicit material redress for harm caused. Reparations are not a thought experiment. It's long past time for the U.S. government to acknowledge that our country was built on chattel slavery and generations of government-backed anti-Black harm. Amy supports establishing a federal Commission on Reparations that will explore and identify remedies, including formal apology and compensation.
05Landback & Indigenous Justice.
Amy supports tribal sovereignty, Landback, treaty rights, protection of land and water, full funding of federal obligations to Native nations, and urgent action on Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women, girls, and Two-Spirit people.
06A livable environment.
Build clean energy, green homes and infrastructure, clean air and water, and legal rights of nature. Amy opposes extractive data-center development that drains public water and power while leaving communities with the costs.
07Immigration justice.
Create a humane pathway to citizenship, protect asylum, reunite families, and abolish ICE and the Department of Homeland Security structures that criminalize migration and terrorize communities.
08Public safety & prison abolition.
Real safety grows from housing, care, education, stability, and community trust—not cages. Amy supports public-health crisis response, violence prevention, restorative justice, ending mass incarceration, and building systems that prevent harm and support survivors.
09Housing is a human right.
Build permanently affordable public and cooperative housing, protect renters, prevent displacement and homelessness, help first-time buyers, and stop corporations and private equity from treating homes as speculative assets.
10Public education for the public good.
Fully fund public schools, educators, special education, libraries, and debt-free higher education. Public dollars belong in accountable public institutions—not voucher systems and private profit.
11Disability rights & accessibility.
Disability justice belongs in every policy. Amy supports accessible housing and transit, home- and community-based services, marriage equality, a living benefit floor, inclusive education, and ending subminimum wages.
12Support workers and families.
Raise the minimum wage, protect unions, guarantee paid leave and universal childcare, and support educators, care providers, farmers, cooperatives, and employee-owned businesses. Every job should support a life with dignity.
13LGBTQIA+ liberation.
Protect LGBTQIA+ people in healthcare, housing, schools, work, family life, and public life. Medicare for All must include gender-affirming care, and federal law must defend every person’s freedom to live openly and safely.
14Seniors & elders.
Protect and expand Social Security, make long-term care part of Medicare for All, support family caregivers, end elder poverty, and guarantee accessible housing, transportation, and community life at every age.
15Independent public knowledge.
Democracy needs trustworthy local journalism and shared cultural institutions. Amy supports independent public media, local news, libraries, museums, archives, public records, and universal access to reliable information.
16Cannabis justice.
Legalize and regulate cannabis, expunge prior convictions, release people incarcerated solely for cannabis offenses, reinvest revenue in communities harmed by prohibition, and protect small and cooperative businesses from corporate capture.
Mechanisms matter.
A platform also means changing how power and public money move through Congress.
17Reduce defense spending.
Amy will join the Defense Spending Reduction Caucus, demand a Pentagon that can pass an audit, protect service members, and redirect wasteful weapons spending toward healthcare, housing, education, climate resilience, and human needs.
18Community-led federal funding.
Community Project Funding should be visible, navigable, and shaped by the people who live here. Amy will publish a clear application process, invite community participation, disclose requests and decisions, and track every awarded dollar.
